I think that your a/c system is probably behaving exactly as designed. From the WIS page on the a/c blower function below, the fan speed is a function of : 1. switch position, 2. road speed, 3. engine (coolant) temperature. I'm not sure what this sentence means. (although it doesn't indicate speed changing on the climate control)
I have the same problem this morning in my 2001 E320. The remote key unlocked the car, but the key will not turn in the ignition. I jiggled the steering wheel, jiggled the key, checked the fuses, and jumped the battery. Nothing has worked. I talked to an independent shop, and they think the problem may be the ignition switch.
1.taking out a key and. 2. putting it back in the ignition. 3. turning it couple times back and forth. 4. taking it out again waiting and redoing this whole process couple of times it would start. So, the MB Dealer after saying that they don't see any codes and then finally seeing it, replaced the Ignition Switch.
